I’m Fahad Ghusn, a furniture maker in Kuwait. I make custom pieces in solid wood using traditional joinery, with a spirit closer to Japanese and Scandinavian restraint than to industrial production.
I work with people who want a specific piece rather than a catalogue one — owners of private homes furnishing rooms they intend to keep, and interior designers and architects who need a maker they can hand a drawing to. Every piece is made entirely in my own workshop, from selecting the boards to the final finish. Nothing is outsourced.
I also set aside part of my time to write, and to share what I know about the craft. Choosing wood, cutting joinery, setting up a workshop properly — most of what I know came slowly and expensively, and I’d rather write it down than keep it. What I publish is technical, and free. A maker confident in his hands has no reason to guard what’s in his head.
